A little glimpse into my life lately, via my instagram account…xImage

1, 2 + 3: The boy’s holiday ‘shack’ at a secret beach along our coast, Bushy.

4: Barnacles, a lovely seafood restaurant at Seaview. We go there…(too) often!

5: Mmmm…making our own beer :) will keep you updated on whether it’s actually drinkable or not – hehe.

6: The boy’s latest addition to his little herd of Nguni – 9 in total now. Bless.

+ 8: A local game farm, Kragga Kamma – they’ve been closed over the last few weeks, due to our recent floods, but definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.

So, when I saw who was recently featured on Industry of One, I figured it was high time they appeared on the blog again! And if you haven’t heard of the lovely Yas Imamura, of Quill & Fox fame (under which rock were you hiding?) then look no further my friends…

P.S. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest, if you’d like…

So, it seems ‘blooms’ are trending on my blog lately…hehe…sorry guys. Must be that summer feeling in the air! Anyway, I discovered Blooming Leopold a few weeks back, and just had to share. So here are a few of my favourites from Lauren’s Spring Summer 2012 collection. Lust away, my friends…lust away.

PS: If any of you are interested, I’ve recently joined Pinterest and Instagram…so feel free to follow some of my favourite finds. And thanks again to all of you for showing me some love xx

A breathtakingly beautiful shoot by Hollie Fernando!

I can tell you now…there isn’t a woman in the world, who wouldn’t want to be shot in this manner…so soft, and feminine, and most of all, real. Too flippen awesome. For sure!

Ohmygosh…it’s been nearly two months since I last blogged! I didn’t even realise!

This time of year seems to absolutely fly by, and I always find myself feeling like I’ve skipped a month somewhere along the line. Which is, in fact, a good thing, as it means we’re one month closer to summer holiday! Can I get a “Hell, yeah?!” HELL, YEAH!!!

Anyway, I guess it all boils down to me feeling pretty uninspired the last few weeks. Work has been crazy-busy (which is great) and I find it often leaves me feeling mentally drained and kinda zombie-like by the get home. But…I spotted something this week that has managed to put a spring back in my step! Hurrah! So here goes, peeps – have a look see at Boots & Pine!

I discovered Arden Wray’s new photographic project on Fieldguided the other day, wherin Anabela herself was featured! Could you even imagine a better-suited amalgamation of awesomness? Words alone don’t do the project any justice, so please, please go take a look for yourself – an absolute feast for the eyes…

A couple of weeks ago, I was ooh-ing and aah-ing over Scout & Catalogue’s S/S 12 lookbook, over here. Well, here they are again – in all their glory! Their new Fall/Winter 2012 campaign is absolutely to die for! The scarves are stunning, and the clutches, the clutches…oh my! How on earth would one ever choose, well, just one? Ha! You don’t necessarily have to. They are all here at your disposal, with each one handmade to order. How awesome is that? It’s like receiving your own unique gift, made specifically for you, by some pretty spectacular people. What more could you ask for? Except, perhaps another one…xx

After this post, I went digging through my old photographs – and found these – yay!!! This is my oldest friend, Superior Guest. He’s too old to take to the beach lately, his poor old hips struggle a bit in the sand. But these are such super happy memories xx

So, Spring is finally here…hooray! I know, I know, it’s not the actual beginning of Spring, but it’s good enough for me. And do you know what that means? Endless hours spent outdoors, in pretty florals and sun hats, having picnics on the farm, days on the beach and plenty of time swimming, swimming and yes, more swimming – yay!

I’m very fortunate in that I live a mere five minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. It’s part of a nature conservancy, and therefore, is devoid of any meddlesome vendors, loud noisy beach bars, or massive crowds. It’s so peaceful, and pure, and I have such fond memories of days spent,as a teenagers, riding our horses down to the tidal pools, and spending hours swimming with them in the ocean. Such happy times.

Unfortunately back then, none of us had cameras, and often I think it would be so precious to have some of those memories caught on film. Anyway. Times have since changed, and I try to capture these special moments as often as possible.

One such moment (or series of moments) was at the end of last year – December 2011 to January 2012 – where the boy and I spent a month in Thailand. All I can say is, “Wow”, what a incredible experience! And yes, we somehow managed t take about 3000 photographs! Don’t worry, I’m not going to share all of them with you. Just  some of my favourites…underwater! Success! We spent so many hours in the water over there – swimming, snorkeling (amazing), and on numerous boat trips around the islands. We decided instead of buying an expensive underwater camera, and taking the risk of it getting damaged en route, we would rather buy a few underwater disposables. These were so much fun, and surprisingly, produced some pretty decent quality images. I have a slight obsession with film photography at the moment, so that grainy, dreamy effect was just what I was hoping we’d achieve. So if you’re ever wondering about whether or not to take a chance on one of those fellas…do it! They are definitely worth a shot!

How incredible are these photographs? Meet Kitty Gallannaugh – a twenty-something photographer, who produces pure magic. Do yourselves a favour, and take a gander at the rest of her work here…it does not disappoint xx

I absolutely adore these shots from the latest campaign for Orla Kiely’s Autumn Winter collection. Shot, once again, by Venetia Scott. So lovely!
